Friends, Film & Fundraising Night for Vance
We’re organising a special evening to raise funds for Vance Bycroft.
This is a community event hosted by the Margaret River Hockey Club. This event will be open to everyone, so please tell your friends and family!
The film will be shown at the HEART, Margaret River. Take a look at the trailer below, it’s a really inspiring documentary, everyone can take something away from Jaimen’s story.
Club members and friends are keen to rally around and support Vance Bycroft. Matt Bycroft (is a long time club player, past committee member, volunteer and all round club legend!) If you know Matt, you would know he’s an incredibly kind and generous guy, who would put his hand up to help anyone. Now his family needs our support.
Tickets will include complimentary drink, nibbles and the film - $35 (adults) $15 (Under 18’s)
Jaimen is also showing his support for this fundraising event and will be attending on the night. We are delighted that he is available for a Q & A session after the screening!
All proceeds for the evening will go towards Vance and contributing to his care costs.
Great Raffle Prizes being donated - you have to be there to win!

Umpiring Workshop
Many of us are a little “unsure” about the rules or a “little hesitant” to put our hands up to umpire a game.
A week before the summer hockey grand finals, Angela Edwards from Hockey WA will be visiting us to improve our umpiring skills! This umpire briefing session is for UMPIRES and PLAYERS to educate us on the essential aspects of officiating. It’s our chance to learn more on home turf whilst umpiring / playing an enjoyable game of social hockey.

Coaching Workshop - #2
Wally and Stu have been working hard behind the scenes and have plans to run a series of workshops for anyone interested in coaching or being an assistant coach this season. Parents / players (inc mature high school students) can learn and develop skills to be confident in teaching our young players the hockey basics, working together to improve their techniques.
The workshops will be following Hockey Australia Community, Club and Development Framework pathways, which includes online training techniques. Sharing this knowledge and running through this TOGETHER, ensures that our coaches will have support as we grow the club together.
Stu is running this 2nd coaching session (Mon 26th Feb 5.00 pm - 7.00 pm) from Hockey HQ.
There is an online element that must be completed BEFORE the session with Trid on 25th April. This FREE accreditation is completed entriely online and can be done in the comfort of your own home. It will take approximately 2 hours to complete, and you recieve your Community Coaching Essential Skills certificate at the end!
To enrol in this accreditation, follow the step-by-step guide here.
We are keen to support our coaches and assistant coaches that we need for our club to develop successfully. If you are thinking about giving back and helping in this very rewarding role, this workshop is for you.
Parents of young junior players
Senior players with years of experience
Junior players keen to coach our Hookin2Hockey and Yr 3-5’s

SouthWest JUNIORS Clinic
Jake and Tom Harvie are running a Junior Clinic!
Here is what they have to say …
“We are super excited to come back home where it all began and provide most importantly, a very fun clinic for all the kids that will have many learning opportunities from our experience in the National system over the last 5-8 years.
We rarely got clinics in the Southwest when we were growing up and relished any chance when we did get to participate in one. We really hope we can provide more opportunities for regional hockey players and share our love for the game. We want to make the effort to make these opportunities accessible in the southwest. We are really hoping to share the opportunity with as many kids as possible as there may only be one opportunity to deliver a clinic like this in such a busy year. We have plenty of State, WAIS, AIS and International Uniform that we want to give away to the kids and some Commonwealth games, World Cup and other medals for some photos. We are also hoping to announce some great opportunities that camp attendees will be able to receive from our personal hockey sponsors in the next week or so.
Really appreciate your support in growing the sport that is hockey and with nearly half of the tickets already gone we would love some more help to ensure as many kids as possible get exposed to this opportunity. Hopefully we can grow their love for the game and encourage them to have a long future in the sport by bringing plenty of fun on the day. We are aware the Australia Day long weekend may provide some challenges and, in the future, will hopefully be able to provide some more convenient dates however this was the only available weekend until Easter because of our own hockey schedules. The link is again attached below, and we hope with your help we can get a few more southwest junior hockey players involved.
We know hockey can be an expensive sport at times and with the beginning of the season rapidly approaching, possibly some of the kids have grown out of last year’s gear! Gryphon and Voodoo have very kindly come on board to offer a 20% discount on all products for clinic attendees. We will have some sample sticks for the kids to try after their sessions and some additional prizes donated by Gryphon and Voodoo for the kids to enjoy on the day.
This offer will be available to all who sign up and we hope it adds some benefit for all those that attend and hopefully we can fill up the last few remaining spots. More details will follow and be available on the day.
