The Perfect Introduction to Hockey!

Hookin2Hockey is Hockey Australia's introductory program for children in Pre-Primary to Year 2, designed to help young players discover hockey in a fun, safe and inclusive environment.

Whether your child has played sport before or is picking up a hockey stick for the very first time, Hookin2Hockey is the perfect place to begin.

This season, our Hookin2Hockey program is proudly led by Chelsea Pickford and Rachel Phillips, who create a positive, encouraging environment where every child can learn, have fun and build confidence.

Equipment

No hockey gear? No worries!

Margaret River Hockey Club has loan hockey sticks available, so children can try hockey before buying their own equipment.

When registering, families can also select the Margaret River Hookin2Hockey + Equipment Pack, which includes:

  • Gryphon hockey stick

  • Shin pads

  • Hockey bag

  • Ball

Training

📅 Wednesday afternoons

🕓 4.00 pm – 5.00 pm

📍 Margaret River Hockey Turf, Gloucester Park

This training session is shared with our Years 3–5 junior players, creating a fun and welcoming club atmosphere where younger players can see the next stage of their hockey journey.

The Hookin2Hockey program runs for approximately 10 weeks throughout the season (weather permitting), excluding the July school holidays.

Carnival Fun!

One of the highlights of the season is the Fuel to Go & Play Hookin2Hockey Carnival, held in Busselton each August.

Players enjoy a fantastic day of small-sided games, meeting children from other clubs and celebrating everything that's great about junior hockey.
