That’s it for the season – unless you want to play summer hockey!
The 2020 season was certainly a tricky one! Despite COVID-19, we got back to training (on the grass) at Gloucester Park and we had new players join us and try hockey for the first time.
2020 was also an extremely successful year – the Year 6-8 Girls’, A2 Women’s’ and Year 9-12 Boys’ were named runners-ups while the Year 6-8 boys were crowned premiers. Not only that, but the A2 men finished in bronze.
The end of season club wind-up and awards night at Cowaramup Brewing Co was a well attended event. For more information and a full list of the award winners, see our post on the Club News page.
On Sunday 20th September we had our Annual General Meeting and the new Exec Committee were nominated. There will be a lot of work behind the scenes during the “quiet” off-season to prepare our Coaches (and Managers) for the coming season. There are a few volunteer spots left to fill, so please get in touch with any member of the committee if you would like to get involved.
We are entering an exciting period of growth and development for Margaret River Hockey and all members (playing and social) are invited to be an active part of it all. The momentum continues to build as we inch nearer to confirming a build timeline for our “Turf Project“. This project will now be managed by the Augusta Margaret River Shire, but we are kept informed of progress and will keep you all updated.
If you are missing playing hockey already, or you are keen to try it out on a very casual level, the Summer Hockey is on! This is for 6 weeks, Thursday and Friday evenings at the Busselton Stadium. For more info see the summer hockey events page.
If you have any questions about joining our club, contact us through our Facebook page, or give any of the committee members a call, we are here to help.
As we look towards next year, our first club social will be our “Scarred for Life” Memorial Match (a Sunday early in March) . All members, playing and social are invited to come along. It’s a great way to catch up with players, past and present and to register for the new season.
