Club News - JUNE

Hi Everyone

Well there is hockey in diary wherever you look!

We have so much going on, hopefully we have all your hockey needs catered for and listed in this newsletter.
Turf Opening Night - Friday 10th June - 5.30 pm onwards

We can't wait to celebrate with you all, hockey family, past and present players, friends and club supporters. We have some very special guests from the Kookaburras keen to share the night. The Opening Night team are organising a food van, the bar will be open (thanks to our Bowling Club neighbours), so bring your sticks, your cash for the raffle and let's try out that turf!
Yes, we will be there!
Question for a Kooka!
First Game on the Turf - Sunday 12th June - 10.30 am onwards

Join us for our Scarred for Life, Memorial Match for Ken Howes, Scar Campbell and Wes Battese. 10.30am for an 11.00am kick off. Food and Bar will be open from 12 midday.

Each year we play this special match to remember those players that we miss. It's a time to reflect, share memories, and play as a hockey family. We are there for each other, and this is the way we show it. With a hockey game where the players are from all teams, all age groups.

To register to play (teams are both MRHC players - named affectionally from past team names Breakers and Settlers) - click on  our websit link  It's $10 to play (bring your cash on the day).  There will be food, drink available.

Turf Off-cuts - We are selling them - You have a  chance to buy a slice of the remaining turf (if you are quick) perfect for around the house, garden and camp ground. There is a mix of shapes and sizes - head over to the sea container near to the turf.  Selling from 10.30am onwards...

This is a day that we pause for thought, we think about our mental health not just our physical health. Funds raised from our game  will be supporting a young person / player to attend a  Zero2Hero camp.

More details on our events page on the club website.

Game Day Updates

We have had the first Margaret river team clashes, with MRHC Yr 6-8 Boys "teal" taking on MRHC Yr 6-8 Boys "Yellow" team. It looked like a very equally skilled and challenging game - Go MARGARET RIVER!!

The MRHC Yr 3-5 teams, "Lightning" and "Magic" also enjoyed the clash of the yellow and teal.  Let's hope the bright yellow sock option reduced the confusion!

Busselton Association Day. 21st May saw teams play half a game on the grass and half on the turf. There were some interesting "battles"  on a warm sunny afternoon.  With plenty of young spectators cheering around the fence line, there was the chance to watch some of the South West League games too!  Special thanks will be sent to Dee Garstone and team for organising the day.

We know we have legends on the pitch but we love to celebrate our legends off the pitch. Check out what is happening outside of the club below

Congratulations to LAURA BOWLER
