Club News - JULY

Hi everyone, July already!

Firstly, we would like to extend a warm welcome to our new players and members, especially our youngest little Goldstix players - watch out for them at the Tuesday training session as we have some shining stars coming through the ranks! Thank you Dan Stocker and Aloha Fritsch for coaching them.

Thank you to our awesome volunteers who helped out at  the Lions Shed last weekend. Having a full volunteer  team (Tim and Alicia Pawelski, Guy Adams, Alice Westcott, Beck and Tom Gorta, Karen and Mark Webster and Jessica Koontz) meant that we could receive the $1,500 community grant.  Thank you also to our friends at the  Margaret River Lions for the opportunity - what a great community club supporter they are.

School holidays are upon us which means we have free time on our hands - free time means one on one drills with yourself, catch up with friends or your team mates for an informal hit. We hope to have an opportunity to catch up on the turf - we are considering some fun, scratch match sessions next week (Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, watch your emails and respond if you can join us!
POSTPONED
Turf Opening Night
We are absolutely devasted that we could not go ahead with our planned turf opening night.
We can not wait to celebrate with you all when we have secured a new date.

We will reschedule the opening for after the Commonwealth games. We'll send out a new invitation as soon as we have a date.

However, this means we can have a bigger and better opening - stay tuned!

First Game on the Turf - Scarred for Life

In between rains we took to the turf to play our annual memorial match. A great turn out despite the taunting showers. Thanks to all the family and friends who came along to support.

We raised over a $1,000.  Special thanks to Mick Dempsey (Margaret River Climbing Co) for contributing to the raffle! We will again support our chosen mental health charity. We can fund a spot on the  Zero2Hero  youth leadership camp (in the October school holidays). Suitable candidates within the club will be encouraged to apply for a spot on the camp, noting that there is an independent selection process and applicants are not guaranteed a placement.

Parents of all Year 9-12 team players, please take a look at the camp hero details. It really is a great opportunity.  Applications close Sunday 14th August.  This is a fully funded camp and a fantastic opportunity for personal growth.

Can you help... date for the school holidays...

Higher Plane vineyard
has casual work for 3 - 5 keen and fit hockey players during the pruning season. Hours are negotiable, but will be mainly during the weekend and school holidays, and transport to and from the vineyard can also be arranged if necessary. Workers must be responsible and able to work without supervision.

If you're interested, call Dan Stocker on 0439 043 943.

Here's the last word from ...

Erin - Club Liaison Officer

I just wanted to say that it's been great meeting a new group of parents. We are new to town ourselves, my daughter Jade enjoys playing in the Year 9-12 girls team and she has also played a few games with the women.

I put my hand up for this role and I have been learning as the season has gone on. When parents have enquired about teams, training and game info, I have shared and learnt how the club responds to most queries, (although the club website is a great place to start for general info).

If you have any questions about the club, or you have queries that your coach or team manager might not be able to help with, like compliance issues, then please get in touch with me.

Also, If you have any suggestions or ideas, contact me, I am here to help!
