Our New Change Rooms Are Officially Open!
A great moment during our Club Wind-Up was the official opening of our new change room facility by Club President Ian Noakes.
The project began with a simple goal—to give our junior players somewhere private and protected to change, store their bags, prepare for games and hold team talks. Until now, our only team space beside the turf has been an open-sided shelter.
What started as an idea for a small modular building eventually grew into a 12-metre facility with separate boys’ and girls’ change rooms, whiteboards for coaching and team talks, and a flexible indoor space that can also be used for club meetings and by other groups using the turf.

From an idea to a finished facility
The project received a huge boost through a $20,000 State Government election commitment, but purchasing the building was only the beginning.
There were planning approvals, engineering, site preparation, transport, power, fencing, painting, landscaping and fit-out to complete and, as with most building projects, a few unexpected costs along the way!
Through grants, club fundraising and the generosity of local businesses and community organisations, we raised around $28,000 towards the project, with our final Wind-Up fundraiser helping us tackle most of the remaining costs.
A real community effort
We simply couldn't have completed the project without the businesses and organisations that contributed funding, materials, equipment, professional services and plenty of practical help along the way.

Another chapter in our club's story
The opening of the change rooms marks another important step forward for Margaret River Hockey Club.
From bringing our training turf home to Margaret River, to establishing Hockey HQ and our shelter, and now opening our new change room facility, each project has helped create a better home for hockey in Margaret River.
Most importantly, these facilities are here for our players, particularly our juniors and will hopefully be used and enjoyed for many years to come.
