“Scarred for Life” memorial match a day to unite
On Sunday 8th March, the Hockey Club hosted our “Scarred For Life” memorial match in honour of past players Ken Howes, Stuart “Scar” Campbell, and Wes Battese.
The story was covered by The Augusta Margaret River Mail.
It was a successful fundraising day with the proceeds from the day used to sponsor a student to attend Camp Hero, an initiative by Perth mental health charity Zero2Hero, as well as raise funds for coaching clinics and equipment for the club.
Over 50 members of the Hockey Club and local community also attended a talk by Mike Dyson from Good Blokes Co which was a useful and timely reminder to discuss our mental health issues and to look out for each other.
The committee were overwhelmed with the community support for our social event. The following businesses supported us with refreshments for the day and contributed to raffle donations
Yahava & Espresso Medic, Cowaramup Brewing Co, Margaret River Party Hire, Jarvis Estate and Witchy Liquor
Rip Curl, Beach Life, Settlers Tavern, Priceline, SportsPower, Toy World, Margaret River Collaborative, Golden Cafe, Riversmith, Houghton Wines and Bob Fox
Thank you to all who supported us and thank you to all who attended on the day.
